My brother-in-law was Wing Commander LGA Reed MVO DFC*, who commanded 120 Squadron from November 1958 to January 1961. He died at a relatively young age and I have produced a book of his service history for his two children. He was a founder member of the pre-war King's Flight which became 161(SD) Squadron in 1962. He was a wireless operator/air gunner when his plan crashed in Northern France in 1942. He evaded and escaped to return to 161 Squadron. In 1943/44. He was wireless operator on Hudson aircraft to make eight successful landings (and two unsuccessful operations) in France to deliver and retrieve agents. He subsequently completed a tour of operations in 357(SD) Squadron operating from India across and beyond Burma. He returned to the King's flight and subsequently trained as a pilot. In 1958 as a Squadron Leader with 269 Squadron he took part in the hydrogen bomb tests on Christmas Island.
